Kong ideas?

Hi

I have tried filling Bella's kong with peanut butter, biscuits... what else do you reccomend as it doesn't take her long and the biscuits fall out too quickly? I want her to have to work at it a bit longer

Wet food - something like Naturediet/Wainwrights mushed with a fork and jammed into the Kong. Once she gets the hang of that, you can try freezing it for a tougher challenge.
Alternatively, plug up the bottom hole with a bit of bread/cheese/similar, make some scrambled egg 'batter' in a jug and then pour it into the Kong. Stand the Kong upright in the jug and cook the egg in the microwave. By cooking it directly in the Kong, it sticks to the inside and is a bit more challenging as it doesn't fall out so easily. Remember to let it cool before feeding though!

Remember to adjust her dinner amounts to compensate for a full Kong though, as a tightly stuffed Kong can contain a fair amount of food. My XL Kongs can fit just under 1lb of mince in them, so knowing that my two need about 1.5-2lb of meat a day (raw diet), I give a stuffed/frozen Kong in place of dinner or breakfast and then make their second meal of the day slightly smaller if necessary.

Battersea Cats and Dogs Home put Marmite in their Kongs I'm not so sure about that as I thought it would be far too salty?

I put mince just in the bottom so Millie can't lick the whole thing out at once and wedge in a gravey bone that keeps her busy for a whole 15 minutes.

Ive been having problems finding long lasting Kong fillings too.

Kibble and grated cheese, microwave for 30 seconds or so until melted, allow to cool thoroughly and it all cements together.

I put fruit in the blender, pour it into the Kong and freeze it. Could do the same with veggies if your dog likes them I suppose. Kibble mixed with a little grated cheese then nuked in the microwave. Diced chicken with a little bit of cheese nuked in the microwave. I put natural yogurt, a bit of honey and some mashed banana in one the other day and froze that.

Pretty much if I can get something into a Kong and find a way to get it to stay there I'll stuff a Kong with it

I fill mine with a mixture of natural yoghurt and veg that I've whizzed to crumbs in the food processor. I freeze it and they have it once set. Nice and healthy! They do like peanut butter too, but I worry about the amount of fat and salt.

To be honest I think mine would quite enjoy a kong with just ice inside! Or maybe some watery stock (without salt).

Pennie has mince frozen in hers. Or Philly spread, kibble, spread, kibble and spread, then frozen.
