Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme

Hello folks

Does anyone have a copy of the Code of practice for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme?

Or know where i can get one?

It is referred to on the relevant Kennel Club website page but they do not reproduce the Code Of Practice itself.

many thanks

Hi Spokky, i have already tried SB.

No joy, hence this thread.

Im assuming you didnt realise I was the thread starter SB, so referred to the wrong person?

Anyways, I know you can buy it from the KC, as i said, ive researched the KC website, but im not starting a Good Citizen Scheme myself, its for a specific research purpose, and I cant afford the £3 at this time.

Many thanks anyway

Is their anyone on this site whom runs the scheme and explain the code of practice to me?

Many thanks

Hi Tom, the handbook has all the guidelines on:

Host organisations
Organising a Training Course
Testing Sessions
Advertising and publicity
equipment and training aids
examiners
stationery supplies
dog law
details of all the awards
Special Pre Beginner Obedience Stakes
Scheme Services

HTH

ps as the definition of a code of practice is: a set of rules according to which people are expected to behave the rules are all in the handbook.

And then there are the rules which govern training societies (C regulations) and those that govern the KC Accreditation Scheme for Instructors (M regulations).

Mst dog organisations print their codes of practice on their websites.

Which makes goood sense, because

a) It makes people aware of their obligations before applying to join, thus serves to dissuade inappropriate people from applying.
b) It gives potentially appropriate people the chance to actually decide of they feel the code of practice is good or strong enough for their own personal standards.

I think it is unusual to be requested to pay to see a code of practice before you have even decided whether or not you wish to join.

bumping this thread as not 100% certain i have what im looking for

does anyone have a copy of any kennel club guidelines/codes/regulations/etc that discuss safety between dogs in classes that run the kennel club good citizen scheme?

the KC website has already been suggested and checked, but they only have booklets you have to pay for.

many thanks
