How much have you paid to have your bitch spayed??

I have been quoted £250 by my vet, but a local vet recommended by some colleagues has quoted me £110, thats a big difference! Just wondered what you all thought was a reasonable price and how much you have paid ???

£90 special offer from a vet practice that does all the rescues. It varies tremendously and is affected by the size of the dog. £120 is a reasonable price for a bitch up to 40k round here.

Well...haven't had bitch done for 6 years...bu it cost nearly £200 then, however - she had a hernia done at the same time.

A friend had one done recently at our vets (16kgs) cost about £150.

Maisy is only very small for her age, not sure of her weight, at the mo, but she is diddy, everyone thinks she is much younger than she is. To be totally honest, id pay whatever as long as she was safe and treated well, but does more expensive mean better care?? thats the question!

hi
bitch spays are usually priced in weight brackets, and do vary as to where in the country your vets is.
please always ask what is included in the price if a non 'athletic' breed you should ideally ask for.... a pre med,a painkilling injection( that should last 24hours,we usually then tailor it to to the particular dogs needs)an elizabethan collar, that can be returned if not needed,a post op check and stitches out appoinment.we also supply dinner and breakfast for the next day.
price is always a concideration, but,i think feeling happy your pet is being looked after lovingly and professionaly should be the prime consideration.
and after all that,i still didnt put a price lol. im useless!!!!
under 10kg spay around £140-£160 in london.

Totally agree on the price vs feeling happy pet is being looked after. I would def imagine Maisy is no more than 10kg, and if £140-£160 is a London price, I would imagine an Oxford price to be slightly lower than that. It seems like my normal vet is ripping me off at £250, both quotes I had so far have been for pain relief and buster collar, plus stiches out/check up.

We paid about £90 for Kia.
Seems prices are a lot dearer down south for vet treatments.
She weighed approx 19kg at the time.
