Unsettled bitch, what can I do for her?

She's driving me UP THE POLE!

If these tests come back as negative I don't know what I'm going to do because she's sending me mental and I almost hope there's a medical reason behind it...

What can I do to help her settle? She can't get comfy, she's irritable, she's stressed, stroppy and one minute she's up and running about the next she's completely depressed.
She's clingy and wants cuddles and then the next minute she won't come near me.

And the constant bed humping, barking and climbing on the sofa for comfort is doing my nut in!

I put a tshirt on her last night and she settled down a little bit but other than tranquilisers is there anything I can do for her to help her settle?

(I'm going to pop out with her in a bit and do some training on the park to try and tire her out a bit)

Sounds like she has pain somewhere - what are the tests for?

She was spayed last year but is showing all the signs of having a season. The tests are to see if they have left any ovarian tissue.

Her seasons and phantoms really took it out of her - hence the spay so the fact she's going through it all over again is heart breaking

I've been to tesco and bought loads of kong fillers to hopefully keep her busy so she doesn't think about it too much Just wish their was more I could do for her, I might see about using the valerian tabs because she is quite stressed.

Thanks guys.

Hate to say this but my spayed bitch continued to have mood swings at the time she would have been in season for the ten years she lived after her spay. It stopped her physical symptoms but not the mental ones.

Hormones, who needs them hey? If you're born female you're doomed to suffer with them!!!!

I hope she's better soon. When do you expect the results to come back?

Heidi, she's going for her tests next week - I have to phone on Monday because the vets need to find out how long the test will take etc.

Sue, the vet has explained that it's possible there is some tissue left which is causing this (she also has physical symptoms but 50% of these could be caused by something else). She said it's more likely to happen in fat bitches (and Takara was anything but fat when she was spayed) but could also happen in a dog like Takara as she is long ribbed and it's hard to find it all.

I guess I'll just have to wait until the tests are done and the results come back and not think about it too much - the main reason for having her snipped was the behavioural issues it was causing so I'll be really, really miffed if there's nothing that can be done!

Makes you wish you could slap a HRT patch to her bum cheek I bet.

Raspberry leaf tablets are supposed to help phantom pregnencies. Might be worth a try.
