D.A.P diffuser

Has anybody tried one of these? If so are they successful?

I did get one today from my vet, my Rosie that has been mated is very stressed out with the fireworks so thought we would give it a go.

Yes we have been using one for 2 weeks and Mollie is much better with fireworks. Before she was drooling an dshaking each time she heard one now she sits and looks at us and if we say it's ok she just goes and lays in her basket and goes to sleep till they finish.

I think it's like a plug in aromatherapy thing - whether it gives of vapours or (more likely) ions or pulses or something from physics I'm not sure. It's a scientific thing - don't do science very well. Google it - sure you'll find something. My vet sells them, so they either work or vets get a good mark-up!

The DAP Diffuser works like a plug in air freshener, continuously releasing the odourless natural pheromone into the dogs environment, helping to make it feel safe and calm. The DAP Diffuser is a natural solution, there is no sedative effect and the dogs ability to interact and play is maintained.

A lot of people have dogs who are frightened of fireworks, and it is very distressing for owners to see their beloved friends cowering or shivering in a corner during this season, which seems to get longer each year. The only solution for many is sedatives. This is only a short term solution and is not good long term for the dog.

£25 and cannisters of the pheremone about £3

I've just google-d!

D.A.P stands for Dog Appeasing Pheromone, , it looks like a plug in air freshener, but contains a liquid in mammals, all lactating females release a substance which science calls an "appeasing" pheromone. The function of this pheromone is to provide a feeling of comfort, safety and reassurance to the young, also acts the same with adults and is supposed to help relieve stress.

I'll let you know how it goes, but at the moment, both my girls are fast asleep in their bed, lets hope it works as well tomorrow!
