Yup, if this is the case then it explains so much - the dog was probably, at least, very undersocialised...

Socialisation is the key to molosser types being kept safely in society... and any dog.

This is a good press release from quite a while back now when there was a dog attack involving a child, it makes good points re. socialisation:

They used shields to push it into another part of the house. I expect they wouldnt be stupid enough to try and shoot it while the poor victim was present.

The report claims the owner was part of a breeding group with adverts on the book with faces..

The dog was attacking the woman, the only option was to rush to try to save her life, the dog could have seriously harmed anyone, I don't see they had an option in this instance.
