My oldest dog was murdered (by two other dogs) when he was 15, and he was still like a puppy, only slower!
The oldest dog I have ever known was a pug that was pts at the age of 18.5. He had cancer, but was still a sprighlty old fella, with serious attitude. He walked around with nails like talons, as he kicked up such a fuss when the vet wanted to cut them.
Definately a boy to be respected

We had a black lab bitch, Bonnie, she had to be pts at 11 years, as she had a kidney problem.

Our Jack Russell was pts aged 20 as she had cancer. In roughs mine was 14 a good age for the breed.

My oldest dog was my first BC, Glen. The vet thought he was about 6 months old when he was rescued; we had him for a bit over 18 years, so he must have been approaching 19.

The oldest dog I've met belonged to a friend in Edinburgh. He was a Heinz 57 called "Muttley", and he died not long after his 22nd birthday!

My family had a cocker spaniel (Sally = Airleywight Idle Dreams), who was 15 1/2, not bad for a cocker. The other three all made it past 14.

I hope to see Kali (now nearly 11) and Snorri (7 in five days) reach their 16th birthdays - at least. They come from a long-lived line.

Snorri
