The thing is you diddnt have to give her back to your mum, you could look after her and play with her every day even if she didn't get walked,

I think this bit sums up why people are giving you such a hard time - you'd rather condemn her to a life of neglect than actually take responsibility, admit you and your mum can't give her the life that any living creature deserves.

I had no idea of the backstory here about Jade or Brownie before. But I admit i was getting quite worried about your irritations with Nigredo already such as his toilet training and your lackadaisical attitude to other training when he's a very young pup who has been with you barely a fortnight. Having read a bit more from you (and you recommended we do it) I am actually quite sickened. And really quite angry.

I am totally with the others. You blame everyone else around you and yes, your mother obviously has a huge role to play in this but you still could have done something. Even if you couldn't have physically removed Jade from her current situation, the least you could have done is bother to go and visit her - especially when you are aware of how your mother now feels about her. That's inexcusable in my opinion.

If I knew you or was nearer, i would be doing my best to remove all the dogs from you and your mother's care and in the meantime I'm glad that neither me, my dogs or loved ones are anywhere near you for their sake.

Oh DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!!! I know I said I was done with this, but that video is so so sad....... that poor dog !!

I really don`t know how you have the nerve to post that, YOU have lived in that house for yrs, did you ever take any interest in her whilst you had Brownie, or was she just the yard dog, how long have you had your pup ??weeks!!!! and ye tits only now you decide to go outside to see Jade and surprisingly discover her living conditions.....

I think the truth of this story is this dog has been living outside for yrs, with no human contact other than having food and water thrown down for her, your "pet" dog dies so you decide to turn your attention to the outside dog, for a while, then when she displays behaviour you cant cope with...........(do to her living arrangements, I may add) you throw her out again, and low and behold then blame your mother...........even though , you still live in the house and cant be bothered to venture outside to check on her.......

Regarding having her PTS, your missing a very important point here......... who is going to rescue her with her history, will a shelter take her , I doubt it.

So the choices she has left are, carry on living the awful life she has or you have her PTS, which will release her from the dreadful home she is living in,, with people how care not a jot for her.

Grow a pair and do the right thing for the dog.............. that`s if you really care about her , although to be honest, if you came back and said you have had her PTS, I will struggle to believe a word.

That poor poor dog,

Watching that video was weird,it reminded me of an undercover report from some animal activist. How can you witter on instead of doing something, like cleaning, playing, walking. There are definitely worse things than death and the life you describe for that poor creature is one!

It doesn't help saying that everybody else around you treats dogs even worse.

That's like if you were living in an area where most people beat their children up, don't sent them to school, don't give them food and make them work and you said: I only give my child mouldy food and make it sleep in the backyard, but at least I don't beat her up. Look how good a life she's got compared to others. (sorry for the extreme example..)
No matter what other people around you do, it's still wrong to keep a dog in these conditions.

And as for the pit bulls in the area: I think your way of thinking is going in the wrong direction. There is such a thing as misunderstood love. Those dogs and the society might be better off if they were put to sleep. It's a horrible thought because us humans can think rationally and we understand the notion of death. But dogs don't. They will pretty much just fall asleep and then cease to exist and there's no suffering in it. It's only from the point of view of a human that it's horrible.

So you keep Jade in a state you KNOW is wrong (even though you say she's loving and when she gets attention she's happy.. well 99% of the time she gets no attention at all and has to sit in her own poo.) Dogs do mind if they sit in their own feces. They do mind if they have no comfy place to lie on, never mind the fact they can get ill from all that.
She's 10 years old, all her life she lived with minimal human contact and from what I've read in previous posts has had no real socialisation. The chance to rehabilitate her is slim. You clearly do not have the knowledge needed to do so (and PLEASE PLEASE do go to puppy socialisation and classes with you new dog. You both need to learn a lot more about dogs, their behaviour and their way of thinking and learning) so in my honest opinion it would be the best option for Jade to be put to sleep.
Spare her having to live a miserable life in the backyard for the rest of her time. You clearly don't want to spend time with her so the excuse that you love her is simply not valid. And maybe spare her the stress of being rehomed, of having to get used to a new enviromnent again, of maybe being passed from one owner to another (again) etc. Why can't you let go and just give her the peace she deserves?

Jackbox, I said I was done too.. but I feel I owe you this response. People here SAW Jade with Brownie SEVERAL TIMES! Both indoors and outdoors. They got along pretty well and I used to bring them together all the time. I'll provide proof if you really want it.

I have taken responsibility for the dogs conditions as well, as it's at least partially my fault. Alys, I cleaned her cage... I cleaned all the terrible poo and dumped the green water and everything. I played with her and took her on a short walk as well.

But why didn't you do that before? Why did it have to get to such a state?

BTW good morning - it's about 5.30am where you are isn't it?!

Yes, it's 5:45 a.m. I haven't slept all night, and I said I was done with this thread, but I guess not :/ It was careless of me to not pay more attention to her, I know that. I got caught up with my puppy and I did abandon her to that treatment. I have admitted that and I know it was wrong. I want to HELP her, but I really don't want to put poor girl down.

I was able to put Brownie down because he was sick without a second thought, and I know the best thing to do is to probably put her down... but she's not sick and I'm really struggling to see it as truly the right thing to do. I'm so, so sad about the entire thing...
