Basenji pups

My Rufus is the proud father. I had a mad dash to Devon as it became obvious they weren't going to be born on time and I had promised to assist with the birth. They were 5 days early!

They will be what Basenji people call Red and White, but it's actually more chestnut (same as my avatar), they were almost black when they were born, they are 5 days old in that picture, they will gradually lighten up. There is another on the heat mat just out of view!

It's not my litter, but yes I am hoping to pick a boy in lieu of stud fee, not easy as there are 4 boys and 1 girl. I do show the dogs, Rufus was top male basenji 2008 and won the dog CC that year at Crufts, he is now retired.

I love red and white with a white collar. We see plenty of tris in the ring Rough, not many brindles though.

That would be Bunty, she still has brindles but has now given up showing. My friend has a Dutch champion, he often is the only brindle present.

They are more common on the continent and in the states
