Lamb ribs

As Monty is at the vets all day today I thought i'd go to the butchers and get him a nice bit of marrowbone for when he gets home.

However the butcher didn't have any so offered me some lamb rib type things instead. I'm not 100% sure they are ribs but they look like they've come from that region!

Are these ok for Monty? They look more meaty than they do boney? He's used to having bones and stuff but not usually raw meat.

He will be fine with lamb ribs..mine get them all the time..

it looks like a bit spine with ribs coming off one or both sides..

However..don't worry but they do crunch a bit more than marrow bones

I take this is breast of lamb? You can also get lamb flaps - which are the bits on the ends with less bone. Very fatty and brilliant for getting weight on a dog. Daisy loves them.

It doesn't feel like there's much bone in them so they might well be the lamb flaps and that rings a bell with what the butcher said actually. Can't see that a butcher would give lamb ribs away for nothing!

Monty will love them. Mine are always getting bits of lamb (ribs, flank etc) and they adore it!

You can`t sell them because people don`t cook stuff like that any more.
Well... when did you last eat brawn? or trotters?

Good point! I watched something on the TV the other day where they used practically every bit of a lamb. Was amazing to see what they did with it and then people's reaction when they realised what bits they were eating!

i watched that too, my other half even got brave and decided to go out and buy sliced tongue, he said it tasted ok but the thoughts of what it was kept popping into his head and made it a little less enjoyable

I like ox tongue thats lush! used to have it for me pack lunch

I get Tun breast of lamb on the bone from Morrissons he eats it all in one sitting (after burying it and digging it up a few times!) only about £1.70 so cheaper than a rawhide and much more enjoyable!
