Best way to introduce a new dog to the home

we have a cocker x who is just under 2 and we have reserved a puppy from our local rescue centre

whats the best way of getting off to a good start.

my dog is fine around other dogs and like to play so i tihnk he shoul be fine with having another dog around.

but what are the best ways for the 1st nights sleep and eating time

I have just gor another dog, i took my existing dog to meet her a few times to see if they got on ok before i committed.

It may be a good idea to introduce them to each other first although my dogs are both adults so it was a bit more risky i suppose but they get on great ! good luck
