To be honest not sure where I stand, I had such widespread gynae problems that IVF would have solved them. As things stood I had to pay £15000 (1989) or have an hysterectomy.
If I had lived 10 miles down the road would have been free which was soul destroying.
In the end my treatment cost for in excess of the cost of IVF as I was in hospital about 5 times for pain relief and had 3 invasive ops before I was eventually given an hysterectomy at 31 and had to spend 3 weeks in hospital post op care.
As I get older do I regret not having children....yes sometimes its hard and as I get older and all my friends are grandparents I wonder where I'll be when mum goes as as shes 80 now and im an only child.
I would never deny IVF my problem is is shouldnt be given to the same couple when they already have a child.
