Can you use metacam & devils claw together?

Been to the vets with coles today for his arthritis on His back legs. He prescribed metacam and I forgot to ask can I use devils claw at the same time.

Does anyone know if you can?

I do not know, why not ring the surgery.

I did - it never occurred to me not to. I was also giving other supplements and the vet knew. In fact, he asked if I was.

Remember reactions, and that includes individual reactions to possible interactions from mixing medications, licensed or otherwise, depends on the individual.

One potential problem with herbal preparations is that the strength and quality, and so the amount of active ingredients, can vary depending on growing conditions and preparation so the results are not always the same, hence interactions may not be entirely consistent.

In many cases with non-licensed preparations, not having been tested for interactions, the answer to interaction questions will be unknown. For that reason vets may not wish to commit themselves, as they could not then defend themselves if your dog did have a serious reaction and you blamed/sued them.
