Sheep Walk

There we were this morning climbing the hills at the back of Arundel Castle when we were confronted by hundreds of sheep scattered willy nilly across the Downs, bloody irresponsible if you ask me.

Nevertheless the decision was made to plough on regardless. Harry and Tillie off lead could be relied on to treat the woolly things with total contempt . New boy Yorkie on lead ,full of pent up aggression was a different proposition though.

Goodness me he hasn't been to sheep training classes, will the unexpected, unplanned confrontation with these strange creatures destroy his recent progress and send him plummeting into a mental void that will take years to repair.

Whoops there he goes. head up , neck out , fixated stare, strutting like an Argentinian tango dancer, bring it on he seems to scream as he starts to cavort on the end of a Canac lead and collar

Half a mile of these sheep to pass, blimey what shall I do, "think dogsey" comes to mind, give him treats, talk to him gently, pass one sheep and come back next week for the next one and so on.

Oh sod it BB ! revert to type. YORKIE BEHAVE YOURSELF OR I WILL SMACK YOUR BUM reverberates around the Downland as I impinge on his space in a dominating manner.

Result ..... one calm happy Yorkie who wandered through the flock of sheep without a care, and who will not be mentally scarred by the experience.

Sarcasm or just another way of putting a point of view. that's for you to decide, or you could just have a laugh of course.

Why's that? farmers don't worry about dogs, they worry about dogs who bother sheep.

Why's that?
Because it is against the law to have a dog off lead in a field with livestock.

I think different points of view is a great thing I did chuckle, but wasn't sure if i was seeing humour where I wasn't supposed to

Is it actually illegal to have your dogs offlead around livestock? I thought unless signed, it was just the responsible thing to do...or to have them under close control.
