Teaching a soft mouth?

Well Takara does a variety of tasks for me now, including finding and bringing my keys, shoes and slippers, her harness and her lead and picking things up that I drop. All need a lot of practice to ensure she knows the individual names but we're getting there.

Unfortunately, after attempting to teach her to bring the tv remote, it's looking slightly worse for wear.

She's really not very good at adjusting her bite and I think actually the moment she gets the remote/phone/whatever in her mouth and wants to chew.

Any tips for training a soft mouth please? And any ideas what I could use to do so while she's not very good at it to prevent the household appliances coming to any more damage?
