only thing to watch is that with some dogs the squeal gets them excited - give it a go anyway

you might also want to try and re-direct onto something else instead, such as a toy - see what works best for you and your dog

tried last night and didnt seem to change much, ill keep try, if I see no difference after a couple of weeks ill have to try something different.

finally got around to taking a couple of pics of Simba and thought I might upload. The pics make him look quite small but for a GSD i think he is quite large. On all fours he is up to my waist (tips of his ears) and im 6ft tall.

I had one GSD who would hold my hand. Very gently. If I did absolutely nothing she let go. If there`s no response there`s no reward.

I love this dog - he is soooo handsome. You're doing a wonderful job with him, he is lucky to have such a considerate and thoughful owner, well done to you.

It sounds like the bite inhibition is good, you just need to stop the mouthing now.

If the advice I gave doesn't / didn't work it may be better to move on quite quickly to the advice given by ClaireandDaisy below.

thanks everyone for the kind words and advice on this hand in mouth issue. Sandy - that was beautifully put, thank you.

Simba actually hurt me last night, but not intentionally. I was walking with his ball in my hand and he tried to get it, felt his tooth on the back of my hand quite firmly. needless to say I wasnt happy
