Peace be with you Barney boy - run free now.
Hugs to you MM for acting so compassionately and giving him the last chance but ultimately peace.

Can dogs suffer from autism? I believe they can. Maybe Barney suffered brain damage at birth or after his early vaccinations?
Whatever the causes, it sounds like you all put in lots of work and suffered lots of heartache. You did your best and I believe helped him right until the end too (hug).

I have just got on to the pc after spending two days running a course in Cheshire.

I am glad that both the dog and you will be at peace now.

You know when I first got Mia I really wondered if she was autistic - just the way she totaly freaked out if anything was different - I mean even if there was a plastic bag in the park when I opened the door she totaly freaked out

she is better now - so I guess it wasnt - but I guess it is possible

I really think you did the right thing in this situation, and there was more to this than just aggression.

My thoughts are with you.

I've only just caught up with this as I've been abroad since Friday. I'm so desperately sad for you and Barney it's clear you went above and beyond but sadly it appears that no one could help Barney. It sounds there's been something wrong with him his whole life and I don't think anyone could help him with all the will in the world. I'm sure he found life stressful, at least he is at peace now. I can't imagine how you are feeling but I'm sorry for all involved I'm sure it's hurt like hell but you have done the right thing. Big (((hugs))) to you. Sleep well Barney.
