The 21-year-old builder sprang into action and with the help of his 17-year-old brother managed to restrain the dog.

He said: "My brother punched the dog in the head and I jumped on its back. We held its head down and pushed its jaw to the ground to close it.

"Mum dragged the girl into our house and there was a huge blood trail through the kitchen and along the hallway."

The brothers feared they were losing their grip on Justice and rang 999 for help.

The 21-year-old said: "The police didn't come for ages so my dad had to smash its skull with a baseball bat several times to kill it."
I know the dog would probably have been put down after this...but could they not have grabbed a lead or something?...That all sounds so brutal

Actually doesn't 'sound' IS brutal.

What gets me is this:
"Pierre du Bois, communications manager for Thames Valley Police, said a 12-year-old girl had been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and no offence had taken place under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991."

Yet one of the lads who was there said "It would have to have been put down anyway".
This upsets me...it's almost like they are justifying what they did

Sounds very suspicious to me - how come there was no offence committed if things were as bad as they said Sounds to me that these brothers had it in for their neighbours or their dog I am sure there must have been a way of detaining the dog other than killing it in that brutal way

I agree Foxy.
3 grown men couldn't hold a staffy still?!
Teagan weighs as much as I do, but I can still control her, and pull her back (even when she attacked Kingsley I could get her off).

It all sounds very suspect to me, as you say the police said no charges against the dog owner. sound like a grudge attack on the poor dog.
