Ashes to Ashes

Okay I am having a 'blonde/senior' momemt, but, I don't mean Ashes to Ashes I mean the previous one with Sam Tyler.............now I thought at the end of that series Sam jumped off a roof???
But all along in this A to A series we are lead to believe Gene Hunt had something to do with Sam leaving???
I am confussed, I know Friday is the last episode, can anyone enlighten me please

Life on Mars.

In the final of that series, Sam got back to his own time (woke up from the coma) and jumped off the roof because he wanted to go back to the 70s, where (if I remember correctly) he got back right in the middle of a ruck to help Gene Hunt and the others. After that, he was supposed to have carried on in that time (the 70s) until (as we've been told on Ashes to Ashes) he apparently asked for Gene's help in faking his death for some reason that we don't know the answer to yet.

Does that help?

Exactly I just hope that Gene's a hero at the end and I'm so sad it's finishing

Me too - I love it, even if I don't understand most of it.

Yes!

I've found a couple of clips on You Tube, although the first has been edited for sound (sorry about the bad comments):

The end bit is around 5 mins:

I did! It was a great way to finish it off IMO. There may have been some tears here too... And I have to watch it again when Mike gets back from work! I've loved both series. Need to watch life on mars again though...
