Can Anyone Recommend A Product To Stop Pup Chewing My Sofa?

he's driving me bonkers! If he's not pulling and tugging on my jeans, he's pulling at the feet of my son's sleepsuit!!! Now he's started scratting and chewing the leather sofa! Can anyone recommend anything to stop this, apart from my foot up his a**e

Hmm I assume your last comment is a joke! Shearer is a puppy and you must treat him as such. He doesn't know he isn't allowed to chew the sofa. Provide him with other things to chew instead - a Kong filled with treats, a ragger, a Nylabone. Praise him when he is chewing his toys and not your furniture. If he does chew the furniture, I would tell him "no" and then provide him with his toy instead.

From my experience, and that of other collie owning friends, collies can be little b*ggers for chewing, so you will have to keep your eye on him.

You puppy has acne too?

As Moobli states, it's part of the deal really with a young pup. You love them and cherish them, and they thank you by chewing the most treasured and expensive piece of furniture you have.

You can try any one of the various sprays around which are designed to deter the pup from chewing wherever they are sprayed though personally I never had any luck with this at all. It might be more effective with a pup however.

Other than that, it's as Moobli states again; whenever it chews or even goes to chew something it shouldn't, give a firm "no" and then immediately offer it something that it is allowed to chew.

P.S. Almost all pet shops have Kongs these days so you shouldn't have to look hard to find one.

That's great thank you. I love him to bits, for some reason he's taken to me more than my husband. It's very funny at night, Shearer lies by my feet and Tess by my husbands. He's my little ball of fluff (shearer, not my hubby). he's getting on well with the little one, luke has learnt to tell shearer "no" when he jumps up at him.
