Blimey, it's a memory test!

Packing scrap in a scrapyard (ultra-boring)
Conducting buses (well paid, but infuriating)
Barkeeper (nossobad, hic)
Psychiatric Nursing assistant (fascinating)
Clerical assistant with the DSS (megaboring, frustrating, and very badly paid)
relief postman (tiring)
Employment Service: Benefit Office claims clerk (often scary, usually fun)
Fraud officer (Kojak in a chair, fascinating)
Wages Inspectorate (frustrating, a lot of aggro)
HQ Finance - the worst of the lot. Talk about Pooh-bahs!
Retired (disabled) since 1993, best of the lot, plenty of time for doggies!

The bus-conducting was really quite lucrative; £42 pw in 1973 was pretty good pay, never had the equivalent since! The early starts were not much fun, though, but the tea in the garage at 4.30 am was something else!
