definitely needs reporting i hate people that don’t take responsibility for there dogs and do make all dog owners look unresposibil . Like some one says it should be on leader and muzzled. Hope your son is ok. And your OH should check if all jabs are all up to date if not should get them dun.

Sounds like a very scary incident - and I agree with everyone else, it definitely needs reporting. It sounds like the dog is dangerously out of control and intent on attacking anyone in its path

I do hope your OH and son get over the shock, and that the incident doesn't have a lasting effect on either of them.

It should be reported, agree with everyone else who has said so - the dog will only get worse and the owner clearly knows the dog will do this....he needs to be on lead and muzzled (preferably taken away to a better home!)

Yes you should report. The police should take a dog biting a person seriously, particularly as this dog was loose on purpose and it wasn't just a terrible mistake.

Why is there "no point" reporting it, if you do it may stop somebody else experiencing the same.

OMG, that's awful. Thank goodness it didn't get your son also

I would report it for sure, as others have said it could attack more viciously next time or get a child. It beggars belief that the owner still allowed it off-lead and it immediately tried to have a go at someone else - WTF?

Apart from anything else on a towpath the situation could have been tragic with the child finishing up in the water, report it.
