Pedigree

When you get a puppy and you are given it's pedigree.

So if you adopt or buy a older dog and the owner gives you it's pedigree, how do you know if it's the same dog???

You could check it's microchip details or tattoo if it has them? You could phone the breeder....other than that I dunno.

That's what I was thinking, you hear so many people having a older dog and saying he/she has got a wonderful pedigree we are thinking of breeding. I'm just hope they are not been conned.

Well surely this could happen with pups just as easily if you didn't trust the source?

If you knew what the pedigree was, could you not contact the dogs original breeder and try and confirm whether the story stacks up - i.e. did the original breeder sell that pup to the current owners?

I guess you could equate the same to either a pup or older dog.

I would think it is all down to trust.

Not to mention DNA testing .......but I think if I felt suspicious of a breeder doing such a thing..I would walk away from said breeder.

As regards the highlighted part.......
I would too, but also if before chosing a breed of pup or a breeder , you do your homework then this situation would be unlikely to arise.
