I like the new design but as its not due to come into circulation until 2017 (think I got that right) why do they announce it now as it gives plenty of time for the forgers to re-design their machines

Our lovely Queen does look grumpy when she's not smiling.

I wonder if this means all the parking ticket machines will have to be changed

I rarely use cash these days so probably won't come into contact with many of the new coins..

I went to Tesco's the other day and the OH had nicked my loose change out of my penny pot in the car (ash tray) so didn't have a quid for the trolley, certainly wasn't going to use a basket. So went to customer services, explained my dilemma and was given a reusable token to attach to my keyring, result till the OH nicks that an all.

Not seen the new design yet, but I do remember the 3d bit, and silver 3d's as well, but not got any of those nowadays, no idea where they went. i remember the farthing with the little wren on, and didn't one coin have a robin on and so on.
Ah the good old days eh, when a bag of sugar cost 1/- (5p in todays money)

Yes, I wouldn't mind a sack of them! I remember the 3d bit too, that was a nice coin, and very different from all the rest. This one apparently resembles the Euro coin, but I haven't seen one of those for a few years, cos I don't go on holiday anymore That might change though

I can't understand why they are unveiling it now either, when they don't intend to put it into circulation for another 3 years, when we'll have forgotten all about it won't we.
