Doggy day care

what happens at doggy day care?

just a general enquiry really like is it in one big room, and all the dogs play? do they get walked etc...

how much do they charge for the day? do they have half day rates?

do you have to have a licence to run a day care? obviously you will need insurance...

any of you use doggy day care and have experience good or bad of them?

Hi

My dog goes to a doggy day care once a week. He is there all day from 7am to 5 pm and he loves it !!!!! My main reason for this is that I wanted him to get him well socialised and for him to have some really good exercise. He mixes with all sorts of dogs and goes on long long walks he is so exhausted when he comes home he literally flops.
It is expensive and its not a long term plan for us, but we will stick with it.

I believe the lady has anything up to ten dogs a day.....I have to drop my dog off there first thing as she is slightly out of my area so the arrangement I have is that my dog is with her all day. Other dogs she collects and takes for walks and the drops off, and then goes and picks a couple more up I presume. My dog then goes home with her and plays with her dogs until I collect him.

Its just like a childcare arrangement and its working for us at the moment

I used to drop Toby off at daycare at about 8.30am and pick him up about 4.30pm, cost about £12 a day. The daycare had a big yard and an enclosed field. There were some converted stables which had a playroom, chill out room (opensided) and a sleeping room with beds and heating. They also went in the kitchen of the house and there were some crates in there if any of the dogs needed some peace and quiet The dogs were put in little groups depending on age/temprement etc and they rotated around the field/yard/indoors etc.

It was absolutely fabulous but unfortunately they lost the premises last year so she had to go back to ordinary dog walking. Toby is the only dog she now has all day. He is collected from my work in the morning about 9.30 and dropped off again in the afternoon between 2.30 and 4pm. They go pick up some dogs and take them for a walk then he has a quick nap in the car while they go swap for some other dogs and off they go on another walk. He gets up to 4 walks a day in different places with different dogs so its great for him. He is off lead for most walks and comes home worn out! We get a good deal on the price as I pay for a block of 25 days at a time and can just use them whenever I need to, usually once or twice a week.
