A Stricture

Ok just wondering if anyone can give me some more info about if a bitch has a stricture? the reason I am asking is I was talkiing to a stud dog owner who was telling me someone brought a girl along way to her for stud.....when she examined the girl she had a stricture and couldn't be mated .....now i know roughley what it is but any more info would be great

all i know it's a kind of hyman SP ??? and it means I think the stud dog can't get in and the bitch couldn't deliver a litter .....but I don't know much else ?? I would imagine the girl would have to be examined first ??

Vaginal Strictures are a tight ring inside the vagina almost like scar tissue. They cause pain on intromission, so the bitch won't let the male breed. Diagnosis is by either digital or vaginoscopy. You can treat the condition using artificial insemination I believe you can also have a small operation, but I do not know much about this procedure and what the complications could be.

so can i asume the stud dog would never get in if the bitch were to have one ?

Our first Golden had a stricture, only found out when visiting Stud Dog and owner examined.........anyway she had an op done at Veterinary Hospital in Potters Bar and went on to have two Litters, that was back in 1995.

HHmm! The fact that another Stud Dog owner had said she had got a mating from her dog & my bitch we knew then not to be true!

I don't really think it is the case that the dog couldn't get in, it may be more that the bitch wouldn't allow him access because of the pain entailed in the act.
