We have no bans here, and I want a Pitbull in the worst way, but I cant get another dog for a long time, but when I do, it'll be a deaf Pitbull, Ambull, or AmStaff.

Cheers CD,
I remember seeing a Dublin ban but that was the housing and public place law of a few years back ...

Yeah but the thing here is that none of the local dogs ever are walked but instead have territories. And there are dogs everywhere and new ones can appear at any moment wherever you may be. Therefore wherever you go you are effectively going on some dogs territory and sometimes there is a short scuffle with never any blood spilled. I do not want a dog that might; get a taste for fighting , or get some dog by the throat and kill it. Bottom line is, if you have a pitbull here you have to keep it on a lead.

Certain breeds are predisposed to certain behaviour. This does not make them "bad" dogs as such - but just dogs with inherent instincts that some owners will find difficult to control.
And they seem to bite and hold. With such powerful jaws it only takes a miss/well placed bite and it can kill. My bangkaew has had a lot of fights after being attacked on the beach, but it is always a quick bite and release and then both dogs move on. I fear it would be different with a pitbull.

a sobering thought about the Fila Brasilerio is that it was bred to hunt down run away slaves.
