Blackie Pet Lambs

We have around 30 pet lambs now , which is far more than we have in a "normal" year (which usually total half a dozen at most!). Unfortunately the harsh winter we have suffered has really taken its toll on the ewes and they are all lean and many don't have the body fat to enable them to produce enough milk for their young ones.

The majority of our pets are one of twins, as the ewe only has enough milk to raise one lamb successfully. This means us bottle feeding them around 5 times a day. No mean feat when there are this many!

Here are a few photos taken of one or two of the very first pet lambs we had, and I will take my camera out shortly when I go to feed the flock we have now

Enjoy!

Fly trying to get in on the action!

And a couple of Ben in his "make-do" sandpit (which is an old rabbit warren on the hill behind our cottage )

Lovely, looks like you guys are doing a great job despite the hard conditions
They look like happy lambs - and that is one lucky wee boy too - what a great education
I wish I lived closer so I could help out!
