Creating a shortcut...

I bought myself a new laptop this morning (Acer travelmate 2355LC) at a bargain price of £460!

The lappy is brilliant and am having to get to grips with XP,but not sure how to create a shortcut for my outlook express so it appears on my desktop along with the internet explorer etc.Any ideas???

ps.Its much much much much faster than old laptop with 256k of ram and am going to upgrade it to 512k soon!

Normally with Xp if you look where the start bar is, there should be a few icons.. click on those (the blue E) as one of them should be for IE

Yes Foxy!

I didnt intend on buying one and only went to the shop to see if they could increase the ram on old one.Unfortunately, the bloke said my old laptop was an antique and couldnt find a ram module for it...

Not bad though-£460 reduced from £600 and something!

That sounds great Steve, you got a bargain there Did you get software with it as well or is everything already pre-installed (a lot of mine was) The only thing which I had to put on was the Record thing which you can copy cd's and a DVD thing, but don't know what that is yet and a couple of other things which were all on one disc.

It was all pre-installed,but have got the disc inside the box still. With broadband-the difference with more memory makes such a difference! Page loading is instant, while with old laptop-it sometimes took a few seconds.

To think as well-ntl are launching 10mb broadband later (i have basic 1mb) this year and this would be fabulous!

Good thing is-this has a burner for discs so can save all photos onto disc to free up more memory.
