E-bay - How Bizarre !!! Sellers Tel No's ???

Bought some aftershave on e-bay from a private seller. Cheque payment only so requested postal address, and posted cheque...

Received a call this morning from a woman who has just received the cheque- lovely-but she knows nothing about a e-bay transaction, the other strange thing is her name is the same ( different initial ) same address ???? No house number just a road, she tells me there are other properties in the road, but a handful only.

Question: Is there a way of obtaining your sellers telephone number ????

Just PM the seller via ebay and request the telephone number
If they don't reply then report it through ebay.

How very odd - did you put your phone number with the cheque? Just wondered how she got your number!

There used to be a way of getting numbers - but can't remember or if they still do that! Might be behind the times - but like M57C says contact member via ebay and explain what's happened!

I thought you could access details once you had embarked on a sale, but can't find that at the moment!!

Waiting for a reply to my e-mails

From the Help Info! on Ebay

If you have a question unrelated to the final costs of your purchase, you can use the "Ask Seller a Question" feature. To do so, click on the "Contact Seller" link on the item page.

If you have tried the options above and are still unable to get a response from your Seller, you can request additional contact information directly from eBay. First, click on the "Advanced Search" link under the "Search" button in the eBay header. Next, click on the "Find Contact Information" link in the left navigational panel.

Note: In order to obtain contact information from another member you have to have a transaction in common.

Your Contact Information

Make sure eBay always has your current contact information, such as email address, phone number, and mailing address so that your sellers can contact you after you win an item.

Good luck hon!

Does seem very strange and can hardly be called a scam if the scammer is not actually receiving the money.

The woman who had your cheque, does she have an e-bay account ? It could be it has been hacked into.

I would definitely contact e-bay about this.
