I do think the media are overplaying this one. Was watching the news last night and it said that most people would only have minor symptoms...so a cold then.
You could walk under a bus tomorrow, or get a 'normal' dose of the flu and suffer complications...

The really odd thing about this is that in 9 years working in healthcare flu pandemics have never been mentioned, but 3 weeks ago we had a meeting about them and that we needed to have a compny policy to deal with them... such as ordering facemasks, stockpiling etc. I have the factsheet on my desk here.

And have we done any of this? Nope, because that was to be discussed at the next meeting lol

As most things, it can be prevented from spreading by good hygiene and hand washing.

I have just been with my Gdaughter for her medical for when she goes to Camp America.
Doc gave her a though examination, throat glands etc. Abbie said "oh yes I have had a bit of a sore throat, I was going to ask if I have got swine flu " The doctors reply was "Everyone has got swine flu at the moment "
They had obviously had more than their fair share of panicked patients.
