Don't start googling about high blood pressure during pregnancy it will just make your bp go higher.
Have they said anything about protein in your urine?

No nothing, they get a urine sample every time but they never come back and say anything about it?

To be honest i would ask them all the questions i wanted answering and keep doing it until you get answers.
It does my head in how some midwives and doctors talk to pregnant women as if there children and need to be kept calm and quiet, and don't give a straight answer but evade explaining anything.

I've had high blood pressure for many years, your symptoms are classic.

I'm sure the specialist will answer all your questions, but I would urge to to adhere to any advice they give you. My sister refused to take any sick leave when she had high bp during her pregnancy, she tried to carry on as normal and was duly hospitalised for several weeks. She was bored to tears and could have kicked herself for not resting at home when she had the chance.

I had erratic bp during early pregnancy, was also kept in for constant checking for 24 hours, they never found a reason and my pregnancy progressed as normal almost until the end.

Mine reads high if they take it at a certain point during the checkup - I've now got them to understand that in my case it's because I'm terrified of pregnancy/birthy-related doctors (as a consequence of the last awful birth) and they'll retake it later in the appointment when it's normally dropped back to a more sane level (it's low blood pressure that runs in my family - not high normally).

They should just monitor you more carefully (mind you don't get me started on me NOT getting monitored by the hospital after a blooming 7 weeks premature delivery last time... at least my midwife rings me to check up how I am - I'm going to set her onto the hospital to bite them round the ankles a bit!)

And yeah lynnb - they don't half talk to you like half your braincells fled the country the second sperm met egg (don't get me started on health visitors who do this even MORE)... granted, my brain cells were never there to start with but still! Mind you - I'll take that over the ones who I've seen on post-natal wards SHOUTING at women worse than you'd shout at any delinquent dog.

Did they give you an idea of your readings? Ask them what your bp is coming out at? I have high bp and did during my second pregnancy. Ideal bp is 120/80 or slightly lower. They just monitored me throughout my pregnancy. They were convinced it was white coat syndrome and it turned out to be inherent. My father suffered with it for years. I just put it down to the fact that every time I had to go to the hospital during my pregnancy I'd get so angry at having to find somewhere to park the car....no wonder I had high bp!!!! haha!! Take it easy but start asking a lot more questions.
