Reactions to dogs on public transport

I went to a new training class today by taxi train and bus and was amused at the varied responses.
Taxi Driver 1 - I don`t take dogs...
so it was then Taxi Driver 2 who admired Daisy and told me all about his collie x
Train - 2 asian gentlemen took one look at Daisy and fled into another carriage. No-one else took any notice.
Big smiles from station staff because they know her and have seen her change into a nice dog over the months.
Bus: -very crowded, pouring with rain, full of pensioners and mums with children. Lots of smiles and coos of Oh isn`t she good. (She was).
So overall we came out ahead, I think.
What experiences do other people have? Daisy is a fluffy, medium-sized GSD.

Glad you had an overall positive experience , minus the two people who must be frightened of big dogs in general and the cab driver, but some are like that.

I have only ever been on a boat (numerous times) ref public transport with the dogs and touch wood everyone has been spot on, they come over and love the dogs and ask the usual questions xxxxxxxxxxx

Most taxi companies around here don't take dogs.

Trains, I have been on a couple of times with my Lab. Can't say that he had anyone screaming in terror as he is pretty well behaved.

As for my girlie woofs, not a hopes chance in hell will I be taking them on any form of public transport any time soon! t'would be a disaster . They are transported by my own car and my own car only.

don't know if i could be bothered with the hassle of public transport, think the spangles would be too excited with all the people. however we did take Bodhi on a pirate ship out to sea over the summer hols, sea dogs (LOL) got on free. don't think he was overly impressed though!!

Mo has never been on public transport.
This morning I took our friends to the station on their way to Heathrow for their plane home.
As I stood on the platform an elderly lady with a cross-breed got on the train. He was adorable and jumped aboard the train like he had been doing it all his life, maybe he has but he really made me smile.

Sam has been on everything except a plane and he always gets well accepted wherever he goes and behaves well too (which is good for him) Rufus has been on a bus only but everyone was cooing over him so he really enjoyed it.

We`ve been on a car ferry, a boat and a Noddy Train as well. We`ve never taken to the air...so far.
Life is very different when you don`t drive

I take mine on the bus semi-regularly and the train occasionally, haven't had any problems as they are well behaved. (think they have cottoned on to the fact that I have a supply of tasties in my pocket )

I made a point of doing the bus when they were pups as part of their socialisation. Dogs are a regular sight on PT here and I have never heard anyone say they haven't been allowed on-it seems to be up to the driver whether they charge a fare for the dog and I have always had to pay on the train.
