Dax at out of hours vet.

For a couple of days I have suspected that Dax has kennel cough as he has been coughing just once or twice a day. I had an appointment at our vets today to check him out but suddenly last night at about half past 8 he went downhill,he didn't seem to be able to lie comfortably & was holding his neck in a really strange way. He also refused food which is unheard of for him. I phoned the out of hours vet & said I was worried & not sure if it was an emergency enough to come in. She said it was £88 to see us plus treatment & if I felt it was neccessary & was prepared to pay to come on in. When I got there he had a temperature of over 107, the vet couldn't find what was wrong so he gave him an injection of synulox & one of Metacam.
This morning as soon as my vets opened I phoned & got an earlier apointment at 9.30. I am glad to say his temperature was down to 104, & since comomg home he has had a meal of cooked chicken & eaten it all. They've done blood tests & will let me know as soon as they get the results, probably tomorrow so please pray for us that its an infection & something completely curable. She says his throat is very red & his asophogus ( sorry can't spell that) is very weezy & she agrees with me that he is now too thin,so I hope that isn't anything too worrying either.

Oh what a worry for you, I'd have done the same thing and I am glad to hear his temperature is down a bit.

Sorry to hear Dax is feeling so poorly, it's a great sign that he has his appetite back which must be a relief for you At least the vet acted quickly and you should soon know what is causing his ailments.

Fingers crossed it is just some bug or something easy to treat, chin up Sue, he is eating better so that's a good start:smt002

Do let us know how you get on with the results
