It is basically the tension through his head that gives you the clue.

Ahhh, so what would you call it? As a behaviour?

This was the cause of both pictures - she is a worm.

She does the same as Tupac to flea and Zeff to Gabe/Champa, Champa does a lot of avoidance while 'grumping' about it, but occasionally - he has really had enough and tells her to get lost.

I guessed at the first pic meaning business. He looks really tense.

Yeah, the first one is play.

2nd is Jake tense and getting ready to give Tess a warning for coming to near his rock

3rd is Paddy wanting to play, and its hard coz you can't really see Bess' face, but she isn't wanting to play and is about to jump, and snap at him... when you can see her face, she has lips raised and teeth showing.

4th is Jake trying to get Paddy to play, and Paddy isn't interested (after a minute or so though, he joins in )

And the last are all playing... I put those up coz they both have their paws on each others shoulders... something they both do a lot with each other. Jake doesn't mind Paddy doing, and will usually duck out of it and do it back to him, but he isn't so keen when other dogs do it... especially ones he doesn't know too well.

Wow - what a Dogsey Big Dog fix for me!

[plus a good lesson in dog expressions/postures and what they mean].
