Good B&B Scottish Borders/Lammermuir Hills?

We've had an awful week here, probably the worst of my life and it's not over yet .

I am looking to book a short weekend-ish break to the Scottish borders sometime in June/July for myself, my partner and our 2 dogs. We normally go self-catering but it might be tricky as we can only go for a few days rather than a full week..

Does anybody have any recommendations? Nothing posh, just dog friendly and as quiet as possible..? I can't find much on the net unfortunately

Thanks in advance xxx

It might be worth contacting the owners of the self catering cottages to see whether they do short breaks. This area is lovely and unspoilt and is also not really on the tourist trail, so you may be fortunate.

Here are a few ideas I have found :

Gardeners Cottage in the Duns Castle Estate is fab (I sometimes walk my dogs on the estate and go past this cottage).

For B&B

If there is nothing here that takes your fancy, give me a shout and I will dig out some others.

There's bound to be a few over our way as well.

Found this one quickly (don't know it by reputation)..

Theres also the Macdonalds Cardrona Hotel...though depending on how well booked they are, that could be a bit pricey (they do do some good deals, but not always).

or a few others

PS - really sorry to hear what a bad time you're having of it.

This a campsite at my road end, they have self catering lodges, and the little symbols say they are dog friendly, but not sure if it includes the lodges.

The carfreamil is opposite, which is where I used to work, but I think it's expensive, but if you are self catering, then there is a co-op in Lauder, which is 4 miles away!

Not sure how busy the lodges get. But it's an idea if you can't find anywhere!!

If you look at the pictures that it shows, I think the skewbald horse is Ringo, who now lives at my friends farm, that I rode before he went lame!!

The 'A' is the campsite, the red circle is where I live, and the black arrow points along the route taken by quite a lot of dog walkers, which takes you onto the lammermuirs, but the road itself it quite a walk anyway!

Hope your week is getting better. You will have to let us know when you decide to come up (and to which area) and we could organise a Dogsey walk
