Hips and Knees

Ok who has had some experience with dodgy hips

Kumo has been waddling around a bit to much for my liking.
So I took him to the vets, The vet had a feel and took xrays, Kumo does not have the best of hips, but the vet says we need to treat them.
So Kumo is currently on Glucosamine powder, Rimydl tabs, and I have to give him 3 Injections of some other stuff.
I am so scared they he is going to get HD bad, I dont know what else I can do.And his knees are not the best either.

Has anyone else used anything successful to help reduce hip problems.

Thanks

Ashley...

Sorry about Kumo. Glucosamine is good not sure what it does but I have friends who give it to their dogs and they think it is brilliant and the dogs do really well on it.

Glucosomine help the body repair cartilidge and incresaes lubricants to the joints. You could try a massage and a heat pad or hot water bottle wrapped ina towel for about 10mins twice a day.

Glucosamine, espescialy in the liquid form, is excellent for the joints, I've beeng giving it to Bree, my 14 1/2 yr old Golden, and it's really helped her.

Good Luck

Check out this link on the use of Ester-C. Many people have used this and have found it to help.

Yes, I hope so too Ash. Tigger worries me with HD down the road. He waddles also. The vet didn't see fit to xray him until his quality of life starts to be affected. I also give glucosomine.

Bon, I will look into Ester C. You have good tips

Sorry to hear about your dogs joint problems the products you are giving will help keep the pain at bay and help limit the damage. Unfortunately there is nothing that can improve the faulty construction of the joints except surgery, but keeping the weight down and making sure exercise is sensible will help keep the damage being done to a minimum.

Hi Ash, I can't remember if Joan used the Ester-C or not but I do know she tried a medication for arthritis that was recommended by someone whose mother used it with success, I will see if I can find the info.
