Blood In Urine

Hi folks,
My cav girl pippa is passing blood in her urine, this evening she was pacing up and down and cant seem to settle. I have let out in the garden I dont know how many times. Her urine seems quite dark and there is def blood in it...Im guessing UTI, my main worry is that there appear to be clots aswell
Is this more serious than cystitus and is there anything I can do for her until I can get her to vet tomorrow? Any help would be great.

Sorry, not too sure about the clots and how to help her till you get to the vets.

Perhaps getting her to drink will help a little?

Don't forget to get a sample first thing in the morning to take with you.

Hope its nothing too serious and she's soon on the mend.

Hali...Many thanks for replying...she wont drink anything at the moment and is quite sad in herself. I used to get cystitus quite a lot when I was younger so I know how she feels!!!!!
Going to get the syringe out and try and get water down her that way!!!!!

Does sound like cystitis, pop her to the vet in the morning, they will sort her out. My dog had clots in his too, dont worry.

UTI's can be really nasty - hope you manage to sort it at the vets. Usually some ABs do the trick

99.99% of cases of blood in urine will be an infection and although it can be difficult to cure you will get there and the dog will be ok.

P.S. the 99.99% is my guess and I doubt a fact but a UTI is the most usual cause.

Stockton, just that mine was given a course of antibiotics for it and the infection re-occured so has been given another course now.
