Found This This Morning./wild bird

Hey,

I put my spare bird cage outside last night to clean out and put away today as i no longer need it. I went out to do it a while ago and look what i found in it

I snapped that pic before i let him out. He'd been eating the remaining bits of seed in there though so i dont think he really wanted to come out I think he must have got in through one of the food bowl doors.

I put some seed on the garden for him and when i went back in the house he flew from the roof (where he flew when i let him out) straight down to the seed! Poor thing must have been starving

Anyway, im no good at wild birds, so does anyone know what he is?

if he's used to cages and knowing there's food in them - perhaps he's a lost pet? or tame bird? He looks like a sort of crow, but i can't tell from that pic.

xx

It looks like a female blackbird. They are about thrush sized and have not got the yellow beak like the male.

I would have said Blackbird too at first, although maybe a juevenile(sp) male, not a female, as they are brown. But having read that he came for food so quickly and went in the cage in the first place, as Zoundz said - could it be a pet Minor Bird or something like that??

If he is still around later, perhaps you could adopt him?

The beak's all wrong for a blackbird I think? It looks like a crow, maybe a young one?

Maybe start talking to him and if he's a minah bird he will answer you, coz they talk like mad!!

Not a mynah bird they are black with bright yellow beaks and yellow eyestripes and it doesnt have the right beak for a crow as they are black even while still in the nest. I agree with Jackiew looks like a female Blackbird

It does look like a young female Black Bird possibily, or maybe a Starling but she / he looks a nice bird. Obviously liked your cage so much, it took it as it's new home
