RIP Feargal

Blimey - how do you euthanize a pet fish

Feargal (our 7" long Albino Rainbow Shark) has had what I suspect is a swim bladder problem since last night and since tea time today he's just been wafting around in the current.

The gills are still going - as are the fins but he's bent and fairly rigid.

Little fish dont really worry me but Feargal is a big fish who we've had for a good few years .

Anyway - I'm not sure whether to leave him overnight or euthanize him now whilst Hannah (being her fish) is in bed.

Question is - how to do it ?

I feel silly asking how to do it being a fisherman because i know fine well but this is a pet so I'm not really wanting to bop him on the head

Put the fish in a large bowl with its tank water.

Slowly drip almond oil and vodka into the water.

Keep the bowl covered so the fish does not get stressed.

The fish will slowly become unconscious and pass away without pain.

There are other methods I will not share as they are inhumane.

Aw I know how you feel they might be 'only' fish but when you see them grow from small it still is a kick in the teeth
