Why not ask your vet`s advice re. the dressing?

Hi there.
My girl had op on her cruciate not so long ago but it was not the same as you, they just put a small band in to hold it together(sorry not very technical, lol).
It was quite sore after though, they gave me a collar but I couldnt use it as she panics over a lot of things - she is a rescue.
She did lick it quite a lot at the beginning, but I made sure it wasnt enough that the stitches were going to come out.

So I would say keep a close eye on it, talk to your vet, but do what works for your dog. He may be happier without collar if he leaves it pretty much alone.

Not sure about bandage as mine didnt have one, I am sure someone will come along in a min and offer good advice x

If he is that bad can you get anyone in to look after him when your not there?
It is difficult, my girl was really depressed after for a good week or so. She slowly got better and now she has made a full recovery (touch wood).

As others said try to give things to occupy him, bones, kong, give him extra comfy bed to sleep on as he will or should be sleeping a lot.

Let us know how he goes

Do you have a cage/crate so he can be put in there to rest up?
