Piper is a gorgeous setter who has come to Wiccaweys from Limerick Animal Welfare.
Piper is about 12 months old. She is most likely a failed gundog as she is very scared of loud bangs, and it looks like she was beaten to try and 'toughen' her up. She is very shy and nervous when first meeting people, especially men. However, it doesn't take long for her to warm to you, if you approach her gently and at her level.
If you try to force her, she gets scared and runs away. If you are gentle and take it slowly, it only takes a few moments for her to come and see you. She loves a cuddle!
Piper loves the company of other dogs, and gets lots of confidence from them. She loves to play.
She really enjoys a good game of race and chase.
Piper is fine with cats providing you take the time to make the right introductions. Initially, like a lot of dogs, she would like to chase, but once she knows they are family members too, she is fine.
Piper would love a home where her new family are prepared to give her the time and have the patience to help her become the beautiful, confident dog we know is waiting just below the surface.
Report from her foster Mum on Piper's first night with them: She settled down really nicely last night and apart from one little accident on the floor was clean through the night.
I got up once with her to let her out, but that was because Skip was creating, not her so thought they might as well all go at the same time.
She came and gave me lovely kisses this morning before going to play in the garden this morning.
Before I went to work, she went straight upstairs, sniffed the cat and put herself back in her bed next to skip ready for whatever was going to happen next.
