canine cancer research fundraiser

Hello,

I compete in Dock Dog events. We raise money for canine cancer research through the Chase Away Canine Cancer program. Our Wisconsin Club has raised the most at a single club event (It was only a two day event) we raised over $2000. I am trying to raise the most for a single person. You can donate any amount you want, you can donate per inch or a flat rate. I am just taking pledges for one of my dogs (Brock), it is too much to ask for all three. Brock’s average is 19 feet 3 inches, that is 231 inches. If you were to donate .10 an inch that would be a pledge of $23.10. Again you can donate any amount. You can follow the link bellow to make you pledge. I have also included the press release from Dock Dogs explaining how it works. I have lost a dog to cancer and I am sure many of you have, so let’s help what we can. I too will be donating, I donate a portion of my winnings at each event.

Thank you,

Joe

DOCKDOGS is embarking on an unprecedented journey that is the first of its kind! You are invited to join as a competitive team or as a strong supporter as the new DOCKDOGS JUMP-A-THON Program is unveiled!

DOCKDOGS is pleased to announce that the beneficiary of the 2009 DOCKDOGS JUMP-A-THONTM is the American College of Veterinary Medicine (ACVIM) in support of our very own Official Charity...THE CHASE AWAY K9 CANCER FUND. Chase Away K9 Cancer is a fundraising campaign where 100% of donations directly support studies focused on canine cancer and are conducted by ACVIM Board-certified specialists.

DOCKDOGS Worldwide member teams can register online by providing their team information and their current average jump score. Throughout the remaining 2009 DOCKDOGS season, teams will collect pledges from friends, family, co-workers and major corporations. Pledge amounts will be based on the team's top jump score from the 2009 Cabela's National Championships presented by Royal Canin.

For example, if Joe and Fido achieved a top score of 15'2" (182 inches), and a donor pledged $0.20 per inch, the total pledge for that donor would be $36.40.

A running total of the projected funds to be raised will be displayed on the DOCKDOGS website and teams will have the ability to monitor their individual team total pledges on their unique login page.

At the conclusion of the 2009 DOCKDOGS National Championships, the ACVIM will distribute invoices based on the amount pledged and the top jump score for each individual team. Tax receipts will be issued for all donations.

DOCKDOGS goal for the 2009 Cabela's National Championships presented by Royal Canin is to have 400 teams participate. If each team was able to raise $625, the total amount raised would be $250,000 at a single event! This amount may seem staggering at first, but when considering all of the resources; it becomes a very attainable goal. Teams are encouraged to contact friends, family, and co-workers, and to never underestimate the potential that other organizations and businesses have to match donations or make additional pledges.
