6mnth guide dog puppy got attacked yesterday

I meet a woman most mornings who takes on guide dog puppies, and she currently has a 6mnth old black lab called Simon, who is really sweet and was proving to excel in his current training (all classes). She told me this morning that she took him down the town yesterday (part of his training) and they always go into a busy cafe for lunch, also part of his training. Anyway, she was walking along a very busy street in the town with Simon, and from nowhere came this big black german shepherd dog, who proceeded to attack poor litte Simon and it all got very ugly. The woman herself was hitting the dog, another woman was hitting it with her handbag, and poor Simon was in submissive mode upside down on the ground and they were trying to keep this snarling dog off him. Quite a large crowd had gathered by now. Along came this teenage moron, who took the dog by the collar and proceeded to just lead the dog away as if nothing had happened! This woman yelled at him "is that your dog" and he just replied "no, I'm looking after it for a mate, but he got out" Poor little Simon was a quivering mess when she took him to the vets. She rang the Guide dog Association and hopefully something can be done about this man, as she followed him home to see where he lived. She then sent her husband round there to "have words" with him, telling him this is a guide dog in training and he might have serious consequences, to which this plank replied "F off"!

She is meeting me tomorrow morning, as Simon loves Cassie, just to reassure him, and herself, that Simon will not be terrified of black gsd's now. We will see. Poor little boy, he's still a quiverring mess and he's only 6 months old. Must be the time of year hey, coz there's so much of this going on at the moment isn't there. I know it doesn't matter that he's a specialist dog in training, it would be just as diabolical if it were ANY dog, but I'm really hoping the Guide Dog Association can sue this b*stard because of the circumstances.

Yes it's terrible isn't it mutthouse Hopefully I will see her in the morning, as she said she was going to make a point of going up where I go with mine at 7am.

Yes, it isn't good, coz where he lives is bedsitland down the town, not a particularly desirable place to live with a big dog like that, especially one with an attitude problem!

Yes Sal, and it's even more awful coz he's such a boistrous, happy friendly little chap, and I can't get my head around WHY a dog would go for a puppy either?

Hiya H Terrible isn't it. The poor woman was very upset this morning and she only had the goldie with her, so I assume Simon would be taken out quietly on his own later somewhere safe with no other dogs around. She came straight over to me this morning as if she was looking for me too, and said she was hoping to see me, so I think she will be there tomorrow. Mind you with the clocks going forward tonight, I'll be the only silly moo out at 7.00 am. won't I!?? Let's hope he comes bounding over to us like he normally does, although he's always on his lead coz he's so valuable I suppose? Poor little mite, you would love him, he's a mini Pip!

Oh that's awful And for the guy to not even care

Hate to think what could have happened, or if he was actually working as a guide dog when attacked.
That young lad needs putting down.
