Loui is a five-year-old, male Jack Russell Terrier who came to The Mayhew after spending two years in another kennels. Loui was very stressed in his former kennels and was not showing himself off to his best advantage, barking at passers-by. Now, living in a foster home he is much more relaxed and happy and has been attending training classes to improve his manners with other dogs - particularly larger males who he feels threatened by.

Loui is very loving and affectionate once he gets to know you - literally purring with pleasure at his tummy-rubs and cuddles. He is toilet-trained, travels fairly well in a car and is usually responsive to commands, though his hearing can be selective at times. He loves playing with tug-toys, loves his food, and will do anything for a treat.

Poor Loui has spent too long in kennels and this has led to him becoming protective with his food and possessions, so he needs an experienced guardian, preferably one familiar with his stubborn terrier ways. Loui is wonderful when at home with his family and even when left home alone for long periods, but he has a problem with visitors to the home and this will need careful and patient attention. He cannot live with children.

This adorable little chap would be ideal for someone who loves both a Jack Russell and a project!
