DVD Recorders.......help!!

Ok, we've just bought a Sony RDR-HX725 DVD Recorder with a 160GB hard drive.

BUT we are having major problems with it. It's connected to our TV with Component leads, we've managed to play one DVD but since then every time we switch it on we get HDD ERROR and it switches itself off, book says to press and hold the HDD button to format the drive (even though we've not used it) which we've done, but we're still getting the same error when it switches back on.

Do you think it's faulty.......or is there something obvious that we're not seeing.

HELP!!!!!

Try formatting it again - if that doesn't work then yes it sounds like a faulty HDD.

Unfortunately, the postmen/deliverymen don't differeniate between a very delicate Hard Disk product and a parcel of old clothing

(I guess it got damaged in transit)
