Introducing Black GSD Dave (Barking heads food)

Hi,

I'm A really intelligent 8 1/2 year Old black GSD, affectionately known as Dave.

My owner has signed up to Dogsy hoping to benefit from Your knowledge and experience of Colitis.

I first started suffering in December when it was so bad that
My bladder and bowel became infected and I was really poorly.

We thought we had it under control but it is now reoccurring monthly

We are now going to try a salmon and potato based food by Barking heads- recommended.

Anyone tried this for Colitis??

Dave x

Hi Dave, welcome.

I haven't tried the foods you mention but you might get your owner to give you Tree Barks Powder by Dorwest or slippery elm capsules which might help your colitis.

Have you used Pro-kolin to put the good bacteria back into your dogs tum?

I have tried pro biotics and a number of diets.

Next step - fish & potato based diet, and I will try the tree bark.

I really don't want to subject him to daily meds as sure it must have an effect somewhere down the line.

Things seem to work for a short period, then the blood comes back

The vet gives him jabs & tabs which again works in the short term but not for more than a few weeks. He's happy in himself but he must be in discomfort.

Does anyone fine dry vs wet food makes a difference?

T x
