A lovely gesture from a show secretary
Last year we entered the Scottish Terrier Club of Ireland's Open show (all breed) It was their first Open and was very good - brilliant rosettes and trophies. Deccy had one of his off days but the late Polly won Veteran Stakes and with it, a beautiful wooden fruit bowl in natural wood (even to having holes in it!).
This year we have entered - myself and Deccy - as I have to return the trophy, but as there is another show the same day I have been dithering about which one to go to, so I have been arranging to return the trophy before the day so my options are open.
The show secretary is meeting me tomorrow at the show in Belfast so I can hand back the trophy - and she told me that in the catalogue this year, she has done a little piece on the major winners last year, including Polly and the fact that I have since lost her. She hoped I wouldn't mind her including that fact.
Wouldn't mind? I am incredibly flattered that a show secretary would go to the trouble and pay tribute to, not only the major prize winners - fame at last - but to the fact that I lost Polly so suddenly in the summer after she had won hearts so easily at the Irish shows. I am quite touched.
So now I WILL be going to the show so I can have the catalogue as a keepsake!
