Turkey!

Really quite bizarre today! Took the dogs for their walk, the field was open so in we went, ... and there was a turkey strutting across it! I had to look twice, as there is a pheasant farm not far away, and we very often see escapees.

The dogs were not interested, so we had chance for a good look, and it was a turkey!.

I can only think it was a Christmas dinner that batted its eyes?

I wish I'd had my camera.

We have free range turkeys and quite often get walkers taking photos of them. We have a stag, and two hens and the stag spends the whole day strutting around after his ladies lol. We bought 6 last year, had 3 for Christmas and left 3 for breeding.

I'm surprised at the number of people who don't know what they are and ask me.

They are great birds to have around and are certainly conversation starters lol.

Now there you go, I learned something new. I had no idea a male turkey was called a stag....I had images of a randy deer chasing after these poor bamboozled turkeys...
