Louie's cost me a tenner and Sadie's was free as she had it done when my friend was doing some training for PAH. Benjie had his at the RSPCA shelter.

If you're going away I would suggest getting another tag, like I'm doing for Kate's lot when they stay with me (although we haven't discussed what should go on the tag).

Something like:
"I'm on Holiday - please call this number if I get lost"

I don't think they do certain types of chip do they?

How'd that happen?

My vet scanned Louie at 10 weeks for a chip and I said - we haven't had him done yet - I now know that some dogs have chips regardless of whether you have just got them or not.

Joedee suggested I ask which chip is being used.

Oh - I thought it was the same chip they put in every dog unless it's the company the chip is registered too?

Sadie and Louie are with Petlog, don't know what Benjie is with..

There are a lot of different makes of chips & companies supplying chips in the UK

There are in excess of 10 types of chips & some are known to move more than others. All the companies except one told me that chips do not move(funny that as my oldest dog's chip is now in his forechest)& the only one that is honest & upfront is the one I went for training with.

Todate only one of the chips I have implanted has moves & that only moved two inches from the implant site

Petlog is not a chip company it is a chip registry run by the KC

My dog is registered with 3 chips but we scanned him several times and can only find one that is active.
Now had the dog five days and I get a phone call from Mr chips to say that the chip number is not my dog breed.
I phone them back and told them the number that we scanned and they read out the address, it was mine.
I think I will contact the dogs home (rescue) about this.
